Murchison River Lodge Location and Overview

Murchison River Lodge is situated on the Southern bank of River Nile overlooking the formidable Murchison Falls National Park – Uganda’s largest park. The location of the lodge offers a stunning view of the wildlife dominated area. You can spot a herd of elephants and groups of giraffes grazing, hippos basking on the banks of the river, a variety of monkeys swinging in the trees and numerous bird species plus the lush vegetation and dense forests.

The lodge’s accommodation facilities include elegant self-contained cottages, state of the art self-contained safari tents and non-self contained tents plus a camping area available for guests having their own camping equipment. The lodge uses solar electricity for light and has a supply of clean running water in all its facilities.

Murchison River Lodge Facilities

Accommodation 

The lodge’s accommodation facilities include 4 thatch-roofed cottages which are well furnished and self-contained with ensuite bathroom facilities. Each cottage accommodates a double bed and two single beds sparing enough room to include two baby cots. The cottages have a solar lighting system and the bathrooms are fitted with a solar hot water system. Each of the cottages has a large private veranda looking out to the dense jungle. The verandas are fitted with sofas, tables and hammocks allowing you to lay back and unwind.

The other facility is a group of well furnished and self-contained safari tents. The tents are designed to accommodate two beds and a third one plus a baby cot can be fitted in if necessary. Instead of zips, the tents have wooden doors and they have a Solar lighting system. The ensuite bathrooms are permanent and they have a solar hot water system.

Each tent has a small private terrace fitted with safari chairs and a table.

The lodge also consists of 5 comfortable camping tents which are furnished with twin/double beds well made with clean linen and draped with mosquito nets. The same area is a block of the communal bathroom and toilet facilities used by the guests. The tents also have a solar system for lighting and charging.

Murchison River Lodge also has a camping area where travellers with their own camping equipment and tents can set them up and spend their safari nights in the outdoors.

Murchison River Lodge Restaurant & bar

Murchison River Lodge has an elegant restaurant set under a large thatched roof and its location offers a scenic view of the Nile River and Murchison Falls National Park. The lodge’s professional chefs prepare both international and local dishes using fresh ingredients. Barbecues are normally organized in the evening and bonfires are lit to create the perfect atmosphere for the sundowners.

The on-site bar offers an assortment of beverages including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks served by amiable staff. The lodge has numerous spots where guests can sit and enjoy their drinks while relishing Uganda’s abundant and spectacular natural attractions found in the region.

Murchison River Lodge Campsite

Murchison River Lodge has a well-maintained campsite where travellers with their own equipment can set them up at a measly cost and spend their safari nights in one of Uganda’s jungles. The site has two simple kitchen areas, a fire pit and seats, car parking area, litter bins, toilet and shower facilities plus plenty of trees.

Craft shop

Murchison River Lodge has a craft shop which doubles as the reception. The shop has an assortment of handwoven crafts and arts most of which are locally made from traditional materials. You can purchase gifts for your family members or souvenirs to remind you of a safari holiday in one of Uganda’s prime tourist destinations.

Swimming pool

The lodge has a state of the art swimming pool built among the trees with precision to allow a clear view of the Nile River. Adjacent to the main pool is a baby pool specially built for the toddlers. There is a steel fence around the pool area to guarantee safety against anyone falling in the night especially for the children. The fence is also a precaution against wild animals which visit the lodge especially in the night.
