‘Ichumbi’ is translated ‘a cool, comfortable home’ from the local Rufumbira language. Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge is an upmarket facility located close to Rushaga gate of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The lodge is a 10-minutes walk from the entrance into Rushaga region where the gorilla families of Nshongi, Mishaya, Bweza, and Busingye reside.

The lodge has a constant supply of solar electricity to give lighting to all its cottages and rooms. Power blackouts at Ichumbi are rare and in the instance of a blackout, each room is supplied with torches and lamps.

Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge has a steady water supply in all its facilities including the ensuite bathrooms and toilets. The lodge has a water harvesting system used to collect water in large tanks during rainy seasons to ensure that there are no occurrences of water shortages.
