Katara Lodge Location & Overview
Katara Lodge is situated in Queen Elizabeth National Park and stands on the Kichwamba escarpment – formed as a result of volcanic activity. With about 72 explosion craters, a number of undulating hills, enchanting valleys and open savannahs in the area, the location of the lodge offers a scenic view across some of Uganda’s eminent attractions.
The cottages have neatly thatched roofs and were carefully built on a row of rolling hills on the Rift Valley escarpment offering a spectacular view of Uganda’s astounding attractions; Queen Elizabeth National Park, the open savannahs, the Virunga, the Rwenzori Mountain ranges and Lake Edward.

Accommodation
Katana Lodge’s safari accommodation facility consists of eight luxury cottages; seven regular cottages and one family cottage. The regular cottages are well furnished and consist of one large bedroom which accommodates a double bed and a four poster star bed which can even be wheeled out onto the patio for one desiring to sleep under African starlit sky. Each of the cottages has a large sitting area and an ensuite bathroom equipped with luxurious and quality toiletries.
The family cottage consists of two separate bedrooms and a shared sitting area. The master bedroom has a large master bed and the other bedroom which is preferably for children has two beds. The cottage has a spacious bathroom, a private sitting area outside which is fitted with a swing coach and two hammocks.
Restaurant and bar
Katara Lodge’s restaurant serves a variety of mouth-watering cuisines including local and continental dishes to especially satiate the avid safari traveller longing for a genuine African experience on their holiday. Meals can be enjoyed in the formal dining area or from outside on the terrace under an open sky.
The lodge’s on-site bar offers all sorts of beverages including alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Guests can enjoy a drink anytime from anywhere including at the outdoor swimming pool where can stretch out under the gentle sunshine while they languorously sip at a cocktail or glass of wine.
Well-maintained terrace
Katara Lodge has a well-tended terrace where guests can sit during their safari evenings and enjoy a starlit dinner under the African sky. The terrace is available for guests to use at any time of the day – it is ideal to relax and unwind while enjoying the outdoors.
Swimming pool
Katara Lodge has a state of the art swimming pool designed to give the extra comfort and allow guests to have all the anticipated fun and tranquillity during their safari holiday in the midst of one of Uganda’s jungles and wildlife tour destinations.
Solar power
The lodge has a supply of solar electricity in all its facilities to guarantee a satiating safari experience. The rooms have good lighting and guests are saved from the burden of enduring the dimming and weak candle and kerosene lamp light which normally characterises safari holiday nights in remote lodges. Water used by the guests is heated using solar thermal energy.
Running water
Katara Lodge has a supply of clean running water in all its facilities. The ensuite bathrooms have both cold and hot water, allowing guests to have a warm water bath whenever they want. Housekeeping and laundry services are possible without any inconveniences.
